A service for the dedication of a newly-created Standard in honour of those who fought in the 160th (Wearside) Brigade, Royal Field Artillery, in the First World War. The Brigade was raised from the men of Sunderland and the surrounding towns, and this major civic occasion is part of Sunderland’s programme of commemorative events. The Standard will be dedicated at a memorial service taking place at Sunderland Minster on Wednesday 20th May, the centenary of the soldiers’ send-off. Please be seated by 12:45pm for a 1:00pm start. The service will be followed by a parade past the Mayor of Sunderland, on Town Green. For further details, please contact the Minster office.
