Families come in all shapes and sizes, and there are a variety of ways to connect with the life of the Minster.
Sundays
The 9.45 a.m. service is a traditional Choral Eucharist with a Sunday School for younger children and opportunity for older children to be involved in the choir or as servers. The youth group meets straight after the service for an hour, for a mix of discussion and fun together – and at other times, as and when.
The Feast at 11.15 a.m. is an all-age interactive service. It is not aimed solely at families with younger children, but is particularly appealing to several of these. We start together, with singing and a story from the Bible, before breaking in to three options – often a craft or workshop activity, a discussion, and a quiet meditation space, all open to any age – coming together again to share what we have done. The Feast concludes with a sandwich lunch.
Midweek
Parents/Carers and their pre-schoolers are welcome at our Minster Minstrels group on Tuesday mornings.
Monthly
In late spring 2014 we are launching X:cite, a monthly Saturday evening for children in Key Stage 2. This project, in conjunction with Scripture Union, will be hosted at Sunderland Minster for children from across the city.
